CAM Academy senior nominated for Presidential Scholars Program

CAM senior Michelle Li

Congratulations to CAM Academy senior Michelle Li for being nominated by state superintendent of public instruction Chris Reykdal for the 2021 US Presidential Scholars Program! Each year, up to 161 students are named U.S. Presidential Scholars, one of the Nation’s highest honors for high school students. For over 55 years, this unique federal program has honored over 7,500 U.S. Presidential Scholars, who have demonstrated leadership, scholarship, and contribution to school and community.

The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction received many quality nominations and sought to evaluate each nominee based on the criteria of academic scholarship, commitment to learning, engagement in activities and service, leadership, resiliency in overcoming challenges and potential for a productive future.

The US Presidential Scholars Office will send letters of invitation to each state’s finalist candidates in late January, and students should have 3-4 weeks to submit the completed application. Semifinalists are announced in mid-April and the 2021 Scholars should be announced the first full week of May.
