The High School Program works to provide a safe environment in which students are challenged to take ownership of the development of their character and learning in order to become responsible and productive citizens in their homes, school, and community.
CAM Academy High School Curriculum
The core curriculum of the high school is designed for students whose post-high school plans or academic strengths would benefit from four years of math, science, English, and social studies. The application of technology to learning and business preparation are also components of the CAM Academy curriculum. Students who complete the Four-by-Four program receive a Four-by-Four Medal in addition to their diploma. In addition to the core subjects, CAM Academy offers Spanish, AP Computer Science, Graphic Communications, and Personal Finance.
Credit for Health and Fitness and Visual Performing Arts is completed through personalized independent learning contracts that are created and monitored by the student’s academic advisor, the parents, and the student. Students must keep track of their hours and activities on a weekly basis and provide evidence of meeting the goals of the contract.
Extracurricular Activities
CAM Academy students have fun too! We have dances, movie nights, awesome field trips, game nights, and more. There are plenty of opportunities for social activities with their peers in a safe and supervised environment. CAM Academy High School students can participate in sports through their local High School.
The Four-By-Four Model
CAM Academy High School has designed its course offerings on a four-by-four model, with entrance requirements into a four-year college or university the basis of the configuration.
Students take a social studies/history, English, science, and math (algebra and above) class every year.
In addition to the four core classes, Freshmen and Sophomores take Spanish, Juniors take Personal Finance and Seniors take an intro to graphics communications class and publish the school’s yearbook
Health and Fitness and Visual and Performing Arts are completed through Individualized Independent Learning Contracts.
