Principal Letter - August 2026

Dear CAM Families,

Welcome back to the 2026-27 school year.  If you are a new family or have been in the “CAMily” for a number of years we are excited to have you with us.   It was nice to see many families join us for the ice cream social yesterday.  Tuesday September 1  is the first day of school and we hope that everyone is as excited to be back.  Please remember that school is from 8:00 AM-2:00 PM.  Your child should be in their seat and ready to learn by 8:00 AM and picked up no later than 2:15 PM after school.  One thing that we value is good attendance and students arriving at school and to classes on time.  We are excited for a great year ahead.  Below is a list of dates and times for parent information meetings that you will want to attend to ensure you know how to support your child this year.

Back to school parent meetings started on August 27th and will continue into this next week.  We ask our families to attend one of the meetings.  All meetings will be in-person.  Below are the dates, times and grade levels:

  • August 31  4th Grade               3:00 PM

  • August 31  3rd Grade               5:00 PM

  • September 2  7th/8th Grade  9:00 AM

  • September 2  6th Grade         12:00 PM

  • September 2  5th Grade         1:00 PM

  • September 2  6th Grade         4:30 PM

  • September 3 7th/8th Grade  5:00 PM

  • September 10 High School     6:30 PM

Student schedules are available in Qmlative (Skyward) for families to see once they have completed their on-line student information update (E.g. Family handbook, health updates etc.).  This year we have a couple of new faces on the CAM staff.  First we have 7th/8th grade ELA teacher Chris Wauters joining us.  He previously was a middle school ELA Teacher at Amboy.  He replaces Lindsey Guttig who is teaching in Japan.  In addition, Tori Denfeld, a familiar face to our school will be a long-term substitute starting the year teaching high school Honors Geometry, Food Science, personal finance and Health.  She will be here to start the year until the position she is in is filled.

In an effort to stay connected with the school it will be important that you check out our CAM Weekly News that you will find on our website, and is emailed every Monday, for the latest information at all grade levels.  You will also want to keep in touch with your child’s teacher to make sure you are a strong partner in your child’s education.  In addition I will be sending out newsletters every 6 weeks.  I look forward to getting to know our students and families.  It is our goal to make sure students have an amazing experience at CAM Academy.  If you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.  Thank you for your support!
